Rent Your CIO™ is seeking CIOs and senior IT Leaders for part-time and interim positions with small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Houston, TX.

Experience Required

Experienced leaders with 10+ year track records in IT Leadership and with professional work experience of minimum 20 years.

Industries

Our business is industry agnostic, as most all industry segments today need IT leadership. The most common businesses that seek our services are "Grey-matter intensive" companies, which are those that typically either 1) lead their marketplace through innovation, and/or 2) provide services that are complex or information demanding. Examples are financial, legal, telecom, logistics, energy, etc.

“Must Have” Skills

Communication skills

We call it being "Bilingual". You must be able to speak both "Business-ese" and "Computer-ese". That means you must be effective at listening to business owners about their business problems and be able to offer creative solutions involving technology and process improvements. Being bilingual means you can communicate to business owners in plain English about their problems and your proposed solution, and in turn translate the business problem and solution to IT professionals that you lead, or provide services to your client.

Entrepreneurial

An ideal candidate has either run their own business, or had a top leadership position with an SMB during their career. As a minimum, you must have a keen interest in business, and their processes to be able to effectively communicate with C-level business leaders and business owners as their trusted IT advisor. Entrepreneurial also means that you know how to squeeze results out of a buck by focusing on return on investment for your client.

Dynamic Range

Since our target businesses are SMBs you must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and getting your hands dirty. Recent hands-on experience in technology is critical because SMBs can't afford merely a strategic IT leader that can't take the next step to roll up their sleeves to get results for their clients.

Schedule

Typically the engagements are part-time or interim project work. You set your hours in mutual agreement with the client and demands for the project. Rent Your CIO is able to do what we do because we work with multiple clients. You will not always be working with the same client.
